I recieved a message on yahoo personals from Elena, she was not on the sight and told me she was registering but got knocked off during registration but was on long enough to get my email address, so she was not there. Said she was from Ekaterinaberg and was 30 yrs old but told me her birth day was 3 MAR 1974, thats 29 yrs old! Second letter she said she loved me and told me she wanted to visit me. She had a company called "siberia travel" email me a bill for her flight, visa, and pass port. I never invited her and was very nondescript and short w/ all my emails.
A couple days later I recieved a email from a guy named wolfgang who was recieving messages from the same girl but her name was "Larisa". She was the exact same person as "Elena". We both came to the same conclusion: Scammer!
Elena wrote to me via yahoo personals and her ad was taken down within 1 day of writing. After answering her first email, I received the same emails that Dave received. Although af first I didn't suspect I was being scammed but after the second email arrived and Elena wrote " I decided that I want to correspond only with you I hope you will do the same. You are very special for me. I have very strong family values. My mother taught me how to be a good woman." I got a little curious because that seemed a bit odd. After a little internet research, I came upon this site and lo and behold there Elena was with the same letters and same pictures. I then wrote a third to Elena asking pointed questions which only one was answered. Then I copied and pasted Dave's 4th letter from Elena, changed the names and emailed her own letter to her, signing it "You are busted"!!!
She has sent me all the same letters but with my name in all the right places...lol
This scammer contacted me on the Yahoo personals site. It was clear from the initial email that she had not even looked at my profile, so she probably just targets tens or hundreds of American men, and probably European men also. She will send a few emails until she finds out the airport near your home, then she will send an email from 'SiberiaTravel' quoting a price for Passport, visa and air ticket to your location. The email says that no further information can be given until the money is recieved. The money is to be paid to Michail Popov. Another name used at the travel agency is 'Aleksander'.
Just by luck, I found this web site and couldn't believe what I found. This woman has sent me the exact letters as the other 2 men roporting on her at this site. Thank goodness that I never sent her any money! Now, I will try to find a way to have Siberian Travel kicked off the net!! It's obvious they or someone in their employ is involved in this scam.
Elena wrote to me at Yahoo personals and gave me her personal email. I wrote back and she answered almost none of my personality questions but described herself on her own in each email in detail. She sent me pictures with each mail and she was beautiful. However, the pictures are different than what she has evidently been using for other people. She asked if I would visit or if she could visit me. I said I didn't have time to visit so she had Siberia Travel Agency email me an invoice for a $643 one way ticket, $130 for a visa, and $160 for a passport. She said she'd been to Turkey 2 years ago so wasn't sure why she needed a passport. I said I needed to talk to her by phone before agreeing to anything but she had no phone and said she had to use a pay phone. We spoke nothing of substance for about 2 minutes then she had to go. I had a Russian friend send an email in Russian asking some basic questions but she never answered. I haven't paid anything yet, but out of suspicion decided to do some research and found this site.
Report N7 (added on April, 2, 2005)
Ekaterina and I have been trading e-mails for about 2 months, she told me alot about her friends and family and her life in Tyumen, I was being cautious yet I did begin thinking, maybe she was into me a little, she responded to my questions, well most of them, she was always happy to talk about the small differences between Russia and the U.S., I found myself willing to give her a chance, but I made a promise to myself, as soon as she asks for money "its not real", anyway it was only the 8th letter I recieved from her and she claimed she had fallen in love with me, then the 9th letter she claimed she couldn't live without me, and she had decided she wanted to come to America to be with me, and she told her parents and her friends and everybody was so happy and supported her 100%, Then on the 10th letter she slipped up 1st she called me by the wrong name in the subject line of thr e-mail, 2nd after calling me the right name in the letter she began telling me all about her big adventure going to moscow and getting all the info needed to come to the States, and how much it costs, then 3rd she claims that her family and friends couldn't afford to give her any money, so she asked me for money, then on the 11th letter I knew I had a scammer on my hands, I chose not to respond to her e-mail requesting money, and the 1st sentence went "I am so glad you have answered my last letter", then she goes on to swear to me that she is not trying to deceive me, "she has read about scams and she's not one of those people.", I responded to that letter saying I believed her and also saying I was sorry I could not help her with money, I said it twice in that letter just to see if she would respond at all, then she did, the latest letter I received she claimed she had great news her trip to moscow was a great success, she was able to get everything she needed, all she needed to do was pay for it, she claimed she asked her friends again, but alas they couldn't help so she asked me for the money again, and also wanted me to make sure I sent her the right info so she could get the money and "get to the U.S."
Report N8 (added on June, 15, 2005)
Irina Shishmakova is reported in your site as Elena Revtova.
I received similar letter from her, other pictures but with the same girl on them.
The communication stopped when I began to be reluctant to send her money.
All those mails and pictures are available if you want them.
The girl's name is Natalya / Natasha. She is a 28 year old waitress from Chelyabinsk City. I have attached her picture. Natasha is the girl with the light hair. I have received 5 photos from her. They do not seem seem to be professionally created.
She recently told me that she couldn't live without me.
Her email goes on and on and on like this, after only 3 weeks and 7 emails! She asked for my address and phone number, which I gave her, yet she has never written to me or phoned me.
She never directly asked me for money, but it was becoming obvious that it was her plan. She expressed her interest in traveling to the USA to meet me. And, she told me about her Aunt, who was skilled in arranging passports and visas for women who desired to travel to the USA to meet a man. Actually, it was her friend's Aunt. She mentions her friends Tatyana and Kent (from Canada), who pose in a couple of pictures. According to Natasha, Tatyana met Kent over the internet, and via yahoo.com, which was the same way that Natasha first contacted me.
I asked her a few specific questions in a very short email to her, and asked her to answer them directly. After that, I received 2 more emails from her and she never even acknowledged my questions. I guess that she didn't even read my letters! So, I wrote her one last time and told her that I was no longer interested in her. Post her picture if you like.
She is clearly a scammer.
I really thought that she was for real, based upon her first couple of emails which seemed so sincere. But after the 3rd letter, it was becoming clear that she hardly ever read what I wrote to her!
Heard from her a lot at first and still hear from her from time to time... in October wanted 450 dollars to show the Russian government her good faith in just wanting to visit America.
Emailed several times, gave same info as other emails posted, said to live with parents and sent the same pic as posted.
