Report N1

Please find as requested further details of the scam of which I became a victim. I will also include a brief description of the scam.

Elena contacted me via dating website - Videodating. We established a relationship quite nicely (or so I thought) and we agreed that she visit me in England (even though I offered to come to Russia). She then asked for help with the flight ticket and visa - I accepted that she would need some financial help and sent this to her. The next part of the scam was that she needed money to present to Russian Customs otherwise she wouldn't be allowed through. This, she claimed is to prevent girls leaving Russia to go to prostitution or slave labour. This amount was for $2100. I borrowed this amount which sent to her via Western Union (I will send you a confirmation letter from WU later). She then went to Moscow to wait for her flight the next day. After the flight had gone she told me there was a mistake with her ticket and that she would have to stay in Moscow until her new ticket was issued. This was done and Elena asked me for more money (the night before her flight took off) to pay for her hotel ($600). She didn't materialise on this flight either and the following day she sent a message saying that her bag with the money in had been stolen and could I send some more out. This is when I told her that there was no more money. She got upset and told me that she would never be able to come to me now and that she would have to pay $3900 in penalties because of the visa. I ignored this (very reluctantly because I still had feelings for her) and told her that there is definitely no more money available and I haven't heard from her since. Hope this helps and any advice you could give me would be very much appreciated. I have been very stupid in parting with so much money and I've got no chance of recovering this I appreciate but if there is anything more I can do then I would welcome new advice. Thanks for being there for us all - it's great to know that there is someone trying to protect us.

Steven (England)
