Hello, im a 42/male from Calif.
Ive become emotionally attatched to a woman from Odessa.
She works for an online live chat.
I really hate to think that she is a scammer, but how do i know for sure? Anyway , she hasnt pressured me for anything, i told her i would love to visit sometime soon.
My problem is , maybe i have too much time on my hands because i have emailed her after i voluntarily sent her a gift, to let her know that its on its way.
It takes forever to receive a response from her.
I dont know if she has her computer at home, or does she work for an agency , or what???
So anyway, Katya Gordeeva is her name,
Dobrovolskogo Str is the address she gave me.
Is she good or is she bad??
I must go now
Thank You
Darren

Hi darren,
I Live the same problem with my sweety in Kherson. I live in Canada and my work take a lots of my time. I made five trips in ukraine in the last two years. I know there is some investigators in Ukraine who can do a research or to ''spy'' your girlfriend. As for me, I had some bad experience in Odessa and I have some mistrust about people in this city. I don't know if the guy named PSS over there can be trustful but for me, I have a friend, she is a manager of a dating agency in Nikolaev and a very trusful lady, maybe she can do something, Nikolaev is not far away from Odessa. About two hours. If your girlfriend is a member of a n agency, be sure of the legit of this agency. There is web sites with the name and photos of scamming ladies. Do a search, you can have good or bad surprises.....

BEWARE!
If one reads around MOB forums, it appears as if a number of "FSU investigators" or other background check providers online have been busted for their inconsistent or else fraudulent services.
Even some of the most "established" charachters ( forget about small-time scammers who ask you to wire money and then disappear ) are somewhat shady: multiple identities or contested identities; no walk-in facilities; mystery business practices; mixed reviews leaning on the bad side, whatever.
As a plus, some claim it is "impossible" to run a proper "investigation" business in the open in some FSU countries, due to some "law" ( again: other say this isn't true ).
So it could just be another scheme to extract money from gullible people.
Buyer beware.

Maybe their own security is a problem? If you cross the paths with a scam ring run by Chechens (there is at least one in Yoshkar-Ola) and they lose $5000 or so potential money, for example, guess what they can walk in, too.

As long as they (PIs) are easy to reach by phone, and can arrange a personal meeting if necessary, I would not hold "no walk-in facilities" against them.

That has to do done sometimes because the investigators do not always manage to follow the letter of the law to every "t." They won't put in writing everything they do, because some smart clients forward their entire report to the girl.

THAT is a problem. However, those mixed reviews can be an inaccurate representation of the agency's work overall. Most people who receive great service rarely publish any reviews (also, many don't want anyone to know that they used the detective at all). It is the ones that do feel like they been scammed that will go to every possible forum and write something nasty. So, the reviews "leaning on the bad side" does not mean that it is the accurate % of clients reporting their good and bad experiences. I personally do not know of any bad reviews about myself, but I am sure that there are a couple, simply because we have had disastorous investigations a few times in the past few years.

And both are right. It is just what exactly one considers "proper" that they probably disagree on. In Ukraine, pretty much all private investigations are not legal and the investigators are still working, but they are limited in the number of services they can offer (of course, if they make a deal with the local LE employees to do the work that they can't do themselves, the problem is solved but the price goes up). In Russia, the private investigations are borderline legal, because the federal law about private investigators allows certain things but the Constitution prohibits them. Both laws are currently in effect, and until the new law is passed, the investigators work by the old law. If there is a legal dispute, the judge can use either of the laws to make a ruling.

There are several agencies that are indeed suspect.

Marriage4You is part of Yoshkar-Ola marriage agency. They say that they work all over FSU, but I am somewhat doubtful. They even promise investigations in Africa if I am not mistaken.

Mikhail Muinov from AllRussia is also suspect. The prices that he offers cannot buy him the services he offers, specially uniformly on the entire territory of Russia. I feel strongly that his MO is to take money for the entire investigation and then proclaim that the girl does not exist. That is why he does not break the pakage up. We cannot locate any traces of him at the address he provides, and I am not sure he is a PI at all. He claims to be a lawyer. He also claims to work with a number of PI companies who perform the services for him. However, we've contacted about a half of them so far and they never heard of him (we are just trying to locate him for our own reasons). If he is working with them, it must be through some intermediate party.

But there are agencies that advertise on the internet who are legit. Sometimes you can tell just by the pricing system who is serious and who is not.

Why did anyone delete my post and bothered to remove the "Michael Muinov from Novosibirsk " thread from the "virtual jury" folder? Oh well, i have a full copy on my hard drive.
Elena, you now criticize one operator, but you were equally criticized in the now sadly missing thread, but it's a relief to know that some operators are TRULY different from others.

Ham,
I am contantly criticized. Not only on this board! Check the internet and you will see. Even on my own board people come and tell everyone that only a moron would fall for any detective checks run by a Russian Woman on other Russian women!!!

I never hear any cricism of any particular case that I handled, at least not in my face. But because this topic is such an easy target, I get flamed for it all the time. I don't remember the Muinov thread being any different.

well, i ordered in 2000 a so-called "thorough ID check" from a popular US "online investigation" company and it supplied no more evidence than any smart person ( and i did ) could get using FREE internet sources. I thus wasted those $29,99 or whatever it was.
When i complained, they gave me the run around and told me i ought to better opt for their "platinum" or whatever package it was, costing many times more.
Obviously i didn't "buy" it.

Was it my company? I don't think so, since I don't think that I would ever offer a "thorough ID check" for $30, I don't think it is even possible.

She has emailed several times since I posted this.
Hasnt asked me for $ , and would really like for me to come visit.
She did mention that it was hard to get a visa for her.
Maybe I will take a step back and lower my expectations.
If she wants to build a relationship with me, she will come forward.
I thank you again for your help.

Hi Califlv
When I was in Ukraine, in Odessa, (beware to taxi drivers, they are thieves) I used the help of a translator, her name is Elena (or Lena, Badrugina) she wanted to date with me but I refused, she asking me to buy things for her but I refused. She become upset. I still have photos of her. I just hope we are not talking about the same girl? I wanted to work in Ukraine for a while, (I'm a social worker and psychotherapist) to be more available for my sweety in Kherson for a while but I'm still looking for that. I give you my email if you want the photos of the crazy translator in Odessa, compare to your girlfriend. ulric36@hotmail.com or ulric.clermont@quebecemail.com Hope it can help you.

Beware. This looks like a scam. It is just a way to get his hooks into you, get your email, get your trust, spend your money on his "investigation", steer you towards a better girl of his choosing, and get his kickback from her too.

If you really have contacted a good russian girl, he will have the power to blackmail her because a few words from him determines if you spend thousands of dollars on her and bring her to the USA, or you drop her.

In the USA, Background Check (http://backgroundsearch.com) & Search includes Current phone number, address, address history for 30 years, age, birthdates, household members, relatives, associates, property ownership, lawsuits, marriage, divorce, criminal records check, sex offenders, terrorist watch, bankruptcy, tax liens, etc. I don't know what it costs, maybe $40.

They do not have anything like that information available to the public in russia. Only the secret police and the russian government has information like that.

It's in some ways a jungle there, and you can't prepare 100% for it.

Authorities do not always work together, individual officials work sometimes with the law and sometimes outside it.

The ukranians themselves often have to pull strings to get anything done.

We westeners are spoiled by having a certain measure of general rules administrated by central authorities. If you try that in UA, you'll be met with a shrug. But I believe, that it's getter slightly better eventually. UA strongly wants to join EU (the european union, so they simply have to clean up the corruption.

Granted, I met her here, but I trust elenag and her company. I've used her in the past and was satisfied with the results of her work, although not necessarily happy to learn the girl I was writing to at the time was a scammer.

Only one problem with R/D is that Elena is working on her Masters Degree, I believe, and has turned much of the work load over to her assistant. I suppose her assistant is qualified though.

Yep, I would not trust them either. The first question is: let's say I pay the money to have a background check made. What kind of information will they be able to provide about a girl? I am from the Ukraine and in our country we don't have such a service whatsoever. I have never heard of any companies doing things like that. The only way to check a person is through a passport desk, or say a police office. But they will not have any other than a person's full name, whether she is married or not and her age. That is pretty much it. And the guy is saying that he is going to be able to tell whether she is "real or not". What the hell does that mean??!! She IS going to be real for sure, but they still would not be able to tell you if she is really interested in you or just playing some sort of games. I guess you guys will agree with me about it. So, sounds like a bull***. Plus, it is funny that you guys tell the names of the girls you are writing. Do you think those people are so kind and going to give you that information for free? It is all about money of course.

David, I have come out of a self-imposed semi-retirement just to tell you that it would appear to those with any reasonable level of intelligence, and certainly for someone like me who is smarter than the average bear, that you yourself are currently in the process of fertilizing this forum and its various threads with a high degree of low level, low brow, low grade advertising.
Please, if you would, tell me and anyone else here exactly why we should even bother to consider your posts to be any more truthful than any other scam agency that has ventured here into the shark pool only to have been chewed up and spit back out by people who are much... MUCH smarter than you?
BUUURRRRRRPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go to any online travel agency to book your flight yourself and really save some cash. If you are having trouble with the internal flights, try the Aero-Svit site, or Kiyavia. Check the domestic timetables first, because flights generally run daily at the same time, except for limited flights on weekends. Then you can work your international flights around their domestic schedule.[8D]
