Tom, Russian postal addresses are "backwards," or reversed from American addresses. I write to Saint Petersburg, Russia frequently. I live in America. This is exactly how I write it (In cyrillic):

First, Saint Petersburg, then Russia, then street, then number of the flat and zip code.

    ?????-?????????
    ??????
    Grazhdanskiy ave
    75/3-77 195257

    RUSSIA

(Write "Russia" ath the bottom of the Envelope, so your country knows where it is going)

If you can get the street in Russian (cyrillic), i think it would be better. Good luck.

    Hello Tom,

To send a letter to Russia you do not need to write addresses in Cyrillic. But if you want below are correct variants:

    Russia ??????
    195257 ?????-?????????
    ??. ??????????? 75/3-77

    or

    Russia
    195257 Saint Petersburg
    Grazhdanskiy ave., 75/3-77

    Regards,

    Admin,

If I was to send letters with the addresses written as I posted above, would they still get there? As i also wrote, I have written letters, but they weren't received yet (I just started writing 11 days ago). Thanks.

    Hello ptrjnthn,

Do you think that they weren't received yet or are you sure? You can write addresses in Cyrillic or English or both together.
It is not a problem for Russian post.

    Hello Tom,
To share a bit of knowledge.
    The address is probably legit.
Grazdandskiy Prospect has a number 75 - and a map of saint Peter shows three blocks at No 75..That's why the 3 - 77.
It means korpus 3 - or building 3 at no 75.
Russian mail delivery times are a non precise science!!
From Australia to Saint Petersburg can take 10 days to 3 months,
and our score is one parcel missing from about 35 sent.
You must write your Customs Declarations honestly - which is a pity because they just advertise what is inside! so thoughts like saying you include a recorded cassette may be better than saying I've put in the latest Movie in original form!

    admin,
I'm know my letters weren't received yet (I speak to my friend in Russia by telephone, at least every other day), but I was wondering if the way I write her address is OK.

    Saint Petersburg
    Russia
    Name of Street
Building number, apartment number, Zip code
    Her Name

    RUSSIA

Please tell me what you think. Thanks

    Hi
For some reason they do write there addresses backwards.Write the address whichever way you like or put two addresses on the envelope that way you be sure it gets there. Some mail does go missing so it`s always best to send it via courier service if your sending something important.
