Report N1 (added on November, 9, 2005)

Marina first contacted me through myukdate and I was pleasantly surprised when I received a long letter back from her almost straight away! It was the usual long letter and I replied and we exchanged emails for several weeks. After a week or so her letters became more personal and
less concerned about her daily life and more and more about how she had deep feelings for me. The "I love you" soon followed! In usual "scam" fashion, she never answered any of my questions, especially when I asked
her for her surname and address, and her letters never related back to anything that I had previously written. I should say at this point that I am/was fully aware of the "Russian Dating Scam" and was suspicious from
the start. My suspicions proved justified one morning when I received two identical letters from her; one addressed to me the other one addressed to someone else! I only hope that this other guy has cottoned on to her too. I did some checking up on the internet and lo and behold found her name and photos on another "anti scam" website posted a week so earlier. The letters from her on this website were identical to the ones I had received! It was only a matter of time before she started asking for
money, and sure enough she suggested that she fly over and meet and then we went through the usual routine of he visiting the "agency" and them quoting $550 to get a visa! I thought that I would see how long I could string this out for and started challenging some of the figures she was quoting me with information gathered from the UK Govt Visa website. Her response was to say how could she not trust me but would trust some "dodgy" website? In the end I made it clear that I would not be sending
money across the globe to someone I had never met, which resulted in her responding with "I do not want to correspond with someone who does not want to help me" or in other words send me money! Funnily enough her
"undying love" soon died when she realised that I she would not be profiting at my expense!
