Letter 2
Hello Frank!
Excuse me for not answering you right away.
I can't always be at the computer.
Now I am in a camp for refugees from Ukraine, I do not have a phone and a computer, so it is difficult for me to write to you often.
I didn't even think that my letter would reach you.
But today I was pleasantly surprised that you answered me.
I'll tell you a little about myself. Now I help in the camp with cleaning the canteen and cooking. In this way, I can at least take a little break from all the horror that I have experienced over the recently.
I cannot write to you for a long time. Because I was allowed to use computer only 10 minutes. I wanted to try to find my parents, or at least get some news about my hometown.
I am a little sad and I realized that it was very badly destroyed and it seems that while the Russian army retreated from my city.
I will try to write to you as soon as I have the opportunity.
I am currently In Bulgaria and I don't understand their native language very well., I only studied English at the university and then took courses and even wanted to become a translator.
Now I have to go to serve dinner and take in new refugees.
I hope that our friendship will help me escape from this terrible dream. Sincerely, Irina PS: Unfortunately, I don't have a photo right now, but I'll send it to you as soon as possible.

Letter 3
Hello Frank, my friend. It's me again Irina.
Forgive me that I cannot respond quickly and efficiently to your letters, I said that I do not have a computer and a telephone.
Many people in the same situation as me, also without communication, but sometimes we are allowed to use a computer.
Today I heard terrible news that in Germany, refugees from Ukraine were expelled from the camps and no longer wanted to help them and let them in. We are all afraid that this will happen here. But for now, we are safe.
If something like Germany happens here, then I don’t know what to do next.
I am very afraid of everything and worry about my parents as well.
They probably also can’t find a place for themselves without me and are very worried, I hope that everything is fine with them.
Everything is very difficult here, I have not been able to find a job for 2 weeks now, I would be ready to go wash floors and clean houses.
I am a very good cook, but I am not a local and also have problems with the language. That's why they don't take me anywhere.
Also, I do not have a passport for Europe, only a passport of Ukraine.
I submitted an application to the consulate, but so far they have not answered me what I should provide them with from the documents. I don't have much time to write you a longer letter.
I'm sorry that I really write such short letters and may not have answered your questions.
But I will try to write to you again in the near future and send a photo. Good?
I have to go now. Now our correspondence is very important for me and I am glad that I was able to get to know you. Sincerely, Irina

Letter 4
Good afternoon Frank.
Now I look forward to your letters every day and want to read them as soon as possible.
Because I have no one left after this war in Ukraine and I am pleased that I met you.
I certainly don't want to think that my parents are dead or missing. I look at the lists of the dead every day and until I see their names, I believe that they are alive and are also looking for me somewhere.
I hope that they were also able to get out and leave Ukraine and we will be able to meet them someday.
I can only wait and hope for the best.
Today I agreed that in the evenings I would help prepare dinner and clean the dining room, then they would allow me to use the computer a little longer so that I could look for my parents and of course write you my letter.
I haven't told anyone that I'm texting you and while I probably don't want anyone to know about you, but I think about you all the time and try to do something useful all day to help refugees. So time goes faster and when I'm next to the computer, I feel much better, I stop thinking about the bad and think only about you.
Let me tell you a little about where I am now.
We flew to the city of Sofia, then we traveled about 2 hours by bus.
If I knew the area, I could describe in more detail.
Here the weather is moderate, but sometimes it rains and it’s cool in the evenings and you have to sleep in clothes under a blanket, because nothing is heated.
I hope that this nightmare will end soon and I will be able to find a job and rent some room for myself or a hostel.
Tell me how are you? How is your day? What are you doing now?
We are not allowed to go far from the camp, and I myself would not go.
I went shopping a little last weekend, everyone looks at me so strangely, with disgust, probably because I have old clothes in which I fled from Ukraine, now I cannot afford to buy something new from clothes. But I'm already used to it and it's good that at least I have somewhere to wash it.
Now I need to clean up and then we all together we will watch TV and news about Ukraine.
By the way, I found a flash drive in my old things and I can send you some of my photos. I will try to write to you tomorrow.
I look forward to your letter, it is so important to me... Irina

Letter 5
Hi how are you, Frank?
I am very glad that you wrote to me again.
Yesterday I couldn't sleep, I was afraid that something bad might happen, the men in the camp drank a lot of alcohol and it's good that they sleep in another tent a little further from us.
They started yelling at each other and fighting, and it seemed like they even took someone to the hospital.
Then a few hours after all this, I still managed to fall asleep, but I slept very badly and today I feel tired. I had to get up at 7 am today to do the cleaning and lay the tables for breakfast.
Everything else is fine, don't worry. At night, when I couldn't sleep, I lay in bed and thought a lot. I would very much like to leave here to another place, to a more peaceful and safe place.
There are a lot of bad people here and I don't feel safe.
I am very afraid that they can **** or cause other harm here, because almost no one is guarding us. I heard that a few days ago, several girls were ***** here, but everyone is silent about it.
I do not know their language and it is difficult for me to communicate.
I understand and can speak English and it is not perfect.
We were told that we could be transferred to another city and it would be even worse there. I am very worried now, but I try not to think about it.
I sincerely hope that I can come up with something and escape from here, but right now I have absolutely nothing. Tell me how your day is going and what you are doing now. I hope you are doing well and your day is better than mine. Now I have a lot more to do.
I am waiting for your letter, the only way I can calm down and get a little distraction from this whole nightmare. Your friend Irina.

Letter 6
Hello my dear Frank! How are you?
As always, I am glad to see your letter.
I love what you write to me. I also want to tell you my news.
Last night, my curator and his friends invited me to their place to cook dinner according to Ukrainian cuisine recipes.
Of course I agreed. They all know and understand my situation.
They were all with small gifts. These are different shampoos, some things and even some cosmetics. There are such kind people and I am so grateful to them. Then I went to the bathroom and cried.
I felt so uneasy and felt so sad and hurt that now my life looks like this.
Of course, then I was able to calm down and went back to my tent.
We were also given a small allowance so that we could buy some hygiene products and various necessary little things.
I was able to save this money and went to the thrift store in the morning.
I bought myself new sneakers. I really can't describe my feelings in words.
I haven't enjoyed the simple things in such a long time. It also brings tears to my eyes.
My dear, I wanted to ask you if you can help me? Can I come to you?
I want so badly to run away from here. I think you understand me and my feelings.
It's very hard for me here. Of course, with my refugee status, I can travel, but I have no one and I am completely alone now in this big world.
Please tell me what do you think?
I will look forward to your letter! Sincerely yours, Irina

Letter 7
Hello my dear Frank!
I have news for you today. Last night I spoke with my curator, who is in charge of me at the camp. She told me that I can go to any place without any problems and also use my passport without any obstacles, I now have refugee status.
I received refugee status when I was taken outside Ukraine.
Initially, they wanted to send us to Germany or Belgium, but there were no free places at that time, in the end, then everything changed and we stayed in Bulgaria. In order for me to be able to come to you, I need your full address, a telephone number to which I can call you at any time. Also the nearest bus station, railway station and airport. I was told that I would have to pay my own way to you. The refugee allowance that we are given is not enough even for normal food and we are trying to get something for free from volunteers.
Of course, without a phone and a navigator, It will be very difficult for me to move alone.
I am very much afraid to leave here now, but here everything reminds me of the war.
I also feel completely defenseless. I am madly worried about my parents as well and constantly experience a lot of stress.
Please write me all the exact data that I asked you and I will try to fully know the whole route how to get to you and of course I will find out how much it will cost.
Your letters are very strong support for me now and I would also like to thank you. Until I get a job I could clean your house and cook your food every day and wait for you while you are busy. What do you think about it?
Today I can send you another photo and I hope you like it.
I remember that day when it was and I was so happy and my parents were there and life was completely different.
I'm looking forward to your news. Your friend Irina.

Letter 8
Hello my dear Frank! How are you?
Today I have great news.
You know that I spoke with my curator
and found out all the information on how I can come to you.
I have great news. We will be able to reimburse all the money spent and even receive benefits.
I will need to buy my tickets myself and keep all receipts.
Then, when I am with you, I will need to immediately go to the consulate and register as a refugee.
I will have to provide all the documents, tickets and checks spent on this trip and also all your details so that they know that I was staying with you and you accepted me. So, after all this bureaucracy, we should be reimbursed and there should also be payments until I can find a job. Thus, we will save all the money spent.
I am so grateful to all people and above all to you, those who do not leave me in this difficult time.
I'm really starting to believe in a brighter future and I'm trying to distance myself from this war.
Because my psyche can no longer cope with this stress and anxiety, but I think you understand me. I really want to finally see you in reality. Now you are my closest person in this world.
Can you really help me? I need to buy my tickets myself.
I will go to with my curator to buy my tickets.
In order to do everything according to the rules and safely.
Can I count on your help?
Also, my curator will have your address so that they can always find me.
I am looking forward to your letter. Kisses! Yours Irina

Hello my dear Frank! How are you?
I have hope for a brighter future thanks to you!
I will be able to come to you, but they told me that I have to pay my own way. Your government says they may be able to help me as well, but it will take time and it is not at all known when this will be possible.
I can't stay here anymore, it's a terrible place.
So I wanted to ask you, can you help me get to you?
I am looking forward to your letter.
I hope you answer me as soon as possible! Kisses! IRINA

Letter 10
Hello my dear Frank! How are you?
All my thoughts are about you! I really want to talk to you in reality, calm down and gain strength.
You are so important to me right now.
I hope that as soon as possible I will be with you.
I spoke to my Curator and she explained to me.
That if I travel so uncontrolled, I will lose my refugee status and future benefits.
I have to do everything by the rules.
I have to buy my tickets together with the curator and then travel.
I also have to leave all your details for the curator.
It will all be in the database. That way they will know where I am.
All this is controlled. I hope you understand me.
I don’t want any additional problems for me now, and it’s so hard at the moment. I think it is necessary to do everything as I am told. In this way, we can also recover all the costs of this trip and I will remain under control and I will not have any further problems with the documents.
I'm so afraid to end up all alone on the street in a country completely unfamiliar to me. I have been through so much.
So now the most important thing is to get out of here.
I feel like I'm in a prison camp here. I'm so tired.
Now it's time for me to go back to work in the canteen.
I am waiting for your letter and your good news.
I hope that you can help me and I will buy tickets before you and go to you as soon as possible. kisses

Letter 11
Hello my dear Frank! How are you? Have you seen all my letters?
You read that I have to do everything myself.
Then also we will be able to reimburse all our costs. I explained everything to you.
I feel so sad and hard here. I'm so afraid that we might be transferred to another camp and you and I might be lost forever.
I'm afraid to get into even worse conditions. I am really under a lot of stress.
I was hoping for you. I want to escape this terrible place.
Last night, one woman was taken away by an ambulance. She had a heart attack.
I could not sleep all night I had various bad thoughts.
My dear, please write me your good news!
Can you help me? Will we meet in real life?
I do not know what to do next... PS I still don't understand what IP means? Here I think the public Internet, but I'm in Bulgaria, you understand this and can you see for yourself? IRINA

Letter 12
Hello my dear Frank! How are you?
This morning I again looked for my parents and also looked at the lists of those killed.
Luckily, I didn't find my parents there.
But I saw one name on this list and tears came to my eyes.
There was a guy with whom we went to school together and were even friends. I felt so sad and scared.
My mood is just terrible and I worry about all my family and friends.
I read your letter and understand your situation and position.
Of course, I'm terribly uncomfortable asking you about this, but maybe you can help me with the phone or things?
I know it's not nice to ask this either, but I'd love to be on the phone with you anytime and also have access to keep looking for my parents anytime.
I'm sorry, but this is really that important to me.
Even if you can help me with things, I would also be happy, you know that I have a lot of problems here with elementary things.
When I became a refugee, they opened an account for us in order to receive small refugee benefits in this regard.
Of course, in order to send your help, you need to know the exact details of the full name and account number: Beneficiary: name: Irina surname: Kalinina country: Bulgaria city: Sofia bank name: United Bulgarian Bank BIC: UBBSBGSF IBAN: BG23 UBBS 8002 1031 6247 20 Everything will be fine, and when the money arrives in the bank account, I can get it from the bank without any problems.
I also found out that you can also send your help via Western Union or Money Gram, there you need to indicate my full name and the amount of the transfer, then you will be given a secret code. When I have all the data, I will also be able to receive this money without any problems.
Also, please be sure to write all your exact details in your next letter.
I look forward to your letter every day and think of you!
This help will be invaluable.
I would like to talk to you on the phone! You're my guardian angel! Kisses! PS I wish I had at least a simple computer of my own so that I could search for my parents and relatives. Irina

Irina
Letter 13
Hello my dear Frank! How are you? How is your day? Are you thinking about me?
I asked my curator to make a copy of my passport to send to you.
My documents are kept by my curator.
It's not safe to store documents here!
I want you to see my sincerity.
You know, I wrote to tech support at westernunion.com
and you know what they told me? They said that the same rules apply all over the world and they will never ask for a copy of the recipient's passport, as it makes absolutely no sense. After all, when I go to receive your help, this will require my personal presence and I will also need to present the original of my passport. After they check all this, then they will give me this money order. Do you understand me?
Write to me in which branch and at what address you applied.
They asked me about it. Because it could be some kind of scam.
So also write to me. Fine?
I will be waiting for your help. Please don't forget to send me a copy of the receipt with all the details so that I don't make any mistakes.
I will be waiting for your good news and your help. Kisses!
