Report:  Yari Connor first made contact with me and sent me an e-mail on Facebook on August 8, 2013. At first I was very tempted to talk to her because she lived so far away in the Dominican Republic but she was very kind and nice to me so I eventually gave in and we both began emailing each other on Facebook. I did not know any Spanish. Since I am from the United States I only speak English so I used a Spanish/English translator to correspond with her on Facebook. After talking online almost everyday she said started to tell me that she loved me and she asked me to come visit her in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. How was contact initiated and which website did the contact originate from? Facebook How long did you correspond with scammer? Five (5) months Did you notice anything strange during your correspondence? I asked her how did she find me on Facebook? She said that she was searching for someone and came across my profile with my picture. Immediately we both hit it off in our first conversation. I also told her that I had diabetes and that my lower left leg and foot was amputated. She said that didn?t bother her at all. Also I asked her what part of the city she lived in and she would never tell me. Then in the 2nd week we were talking she asked me to be her boyfriend and started to ask me for money. I told her that didn?t trust sending anyone that I never met in person money She convinced me that she needed money for English classes because she wanted to learn English. How was the money request initiated and for what? A grand total of $1,807.00 including Western Union sending fees for various reasons like English classes, apartment security deposit, daughter?s hospital bills, new cell phone etc. What was the name of the person who received/requested the money transfer? Yary Connor not Yari Connor to pick up money at Western Union but she said her real identification read Yary Connor. How much was sent or requested? A grand total of $1,807.00 including Western Union sending fees. How many times did this occur? Twelve (12) times. What was the final of the story? So I got my passport, airplane tickets and made hotel reservations to Santo Domingo for early December 2013. We made contact the day that I was leaving by text messages so she knew that I was coming to Santo Domingo to visit her. Well I finally got to the hotel after 4 PM. She then called me at the hotel room around 5 PM said that she would meet me at 9 PM at the hotel lobby. But she never showed up at all so I never heard back from her again.
