Scam REPORT(S)

REPORT N1 (added on June, 15, 2005)
Steve (USA)

She was real smooth, never sent the emails fast she spaced them about a week apart. She also used a real good story that she was a teacher and was coming over on a work visa program though her government. Even
called me once but cut off the call in like 30 seconds. As the scams go I have seen on the internet hers here is one of the better ones. Too bad people can use all this creativeness for good. She has'nt asked me for money yet but her next letter she will. I was thinking of emailing her
first to ask her for cash to help my sick father in the hospital hehe. I had the US Embassy in Moscow run a check on her visa she sent me in the email. Ofcouse it is false. I did have fun tracking her info down on the
blacklist and things. Like they say live an learn. I knew not to sent any money, I hope this info helps others out there.

She did ask me for $ 1200 , to get to the U.S., I didn't send it and have not heard back from her since.

I found your site while searching for Ekaterina Rumyantseva and read the report from Steve . His letters were exactly the same as the ones I have been receiving.
REPORT N4 (added on July, 1, 2005)
Gregg (USA)

I wish I had caught onto this one earlier. She posed as a Russian physician this time and we corresponded via email for about two months. As the others have said she spaced her letters out very well. The long and short of it was that she was "selected" to come to the U.S. as a part of a government exchange program for physicians. I must admit that she was very believable at the time and she called me also but we were cut off after 30 seconds or so as well. I found it rather amusing though that she $1000.00 to cover her travel expenses to come to the U.S. Wouldn't her govenment have the ability to cover that after all? She insisted that I wire transfer the money via Western Union, which I politely refused. I haven't heard from her since. I wish now that I had kept her photos and letters because they are identical in most cases to those that are already posted.
It's a shame that she can't find a better way to make a living.

Romance scam letter(s) from Ekaterina Rumyantseva to Steve (USA)
Hello Steve.

Thank you for your reply. I am very glad you wrote to me.

I am sorry you was unable to find my profile at personals. I couldn't make it to work.

To be honest I am a little sceptical about dating services in Internet and I didn't think it really works and I havn't checked my email too long. I just made a try... and you wrote. :) Thank you.

By the way my profile doesn't work still so I will describe myself here. My birthday is January 21, 1976. I am 29 now. I am Russian. My height is 165 cm (5'5"), weigt - 53 kg (123 lb). I will attach a picture of me, so you can see my appearance.

I live in Russia. And I have never been to the US. But I hope I will visit this country one day. I live in a small russian town Rostov. It is Kostroma region.

I don't smoke and drink rarely. Prefer red wine.

I work as a teacher at the school.

I keep active life, interesting in sports and outdoors. Also I am interesting in history, geographics and social sciences. I have a lot of hobbies, like reading and listening to music. Cookery is one of my favourite things. Also I like animals and children.

As for my character, I don't like to tell about it. I try to be good person. Enough emotional and sensible. My best qualities: loyalty, honesty, sense of humour, natural curiosity and simplicity. I know that I can't be objective telling about myself. At least I want people think about me this way. :)

What about religion, I am a Christian but

Romance scam letter(s) from Ekaterina Rumyantseva to Frank (USA)
Hello Frank.

I didn't write you for a while. I am sorry. I know I had to think about you and just write you a short note earlier. I had something I had must solve before I write you anything. I know you worry for me. As you see from the subject of my letter things doesn't smile at me. I am sad and confused. I don't want to tell it to you. I know you want to meet me. But I will be unable to come to the US by my own. I need a sponsor to pay my travel.

Frank, I want to explain you the whole situation. In my last letter I told you I would have a talking with Andrey about funding my travel by trade union. I met him and he said that our trade union will not pay my travel. I asked why and how it may be? They carry out this exchange programm without funding it? He said it is not right. Our government arranges traveling papers, visas, contract with American government. They also pay salary and supply place for living for american teachers that will come to work to Russia. Travel expenses must be covered from local budget or our trade union. My school refused to pay travelling and trade union can't pay for it too because Moscow didn't send money. Andrey said it is because of the non-coordination of our government.

I asked him what I can do? He said I can pay my travel by my own or find a sponsor. I asked who will pay me the salary for work in the US? He said when I will come to New York, we will contract with American government and they will supply the ap

Romance scam letter(s) from Ekaterina Rumyantseva to Gregg (USA)
Hi Gregg.

I received your letter and it gave me good hope. Thank you very much. I am so happy. You are saving my future. Smile. I knew you are the man I can rely on. I appreciate your willing to help highly. I will pay money back to you in any case. This is my wish.

I understand you are uncertain about sending money. I have been to bank and asked them to accept your a promissory note. They refused me. They didn't work with overseas. Our trade union didn't accept it too and my friends don't have this sum. I am sorry. They all say that America is too far and they don't want to deal with this.

I consulted with Andrey about how you can get the money to me. He said we have short time so we must do it quickly. He advised me that we should use western union. You must hear about it? He said they have many agents everywhere in the world. I will be unable to receive your money. Andrey said this is big sum and I will have to take tax return. It takes much time and I may not have enough time before my flight. If I won't do it I may have some juridical problems and it may cause problems with customs and my visa. I even might be unable to fly.

Andrey wants to help me. He can receive your money for me. He used to receive transfers from overseas through western union for our trade union and that works really good.

Find some western union agent close to you and send money from them. Andrey said you can also send money online from there web site:
