Report N1 (added on July, 26, 2017)

This woman contacted me on an English dating site in October 1916. I took her to be a genuine penpal wanting to improve her English. We emailed each other nearly every day and a romance started to flourish. I invited her to come to England and she duly got a Russian passport and UK visitors visa. I asked for copies of these and they looked genuine. She booked flights to and from Heathrow and I awaited her arrival. I got an email from in `Moscow to say she had been denied clearance to leave Russia because she had a debt. That was a mortgage on her apartment. So to clear this debt I offered to pay it off and sent her ?8000. She paid off the debt and then decided to put her apartment up for sale. to pay me back and she moved to her parents house. The apartment did not sell up to May 1916. Her 20 year old daughter was involved in a traffic accident and she wanted ?10,000 to pay for an operation on her legs. I did not raise this money and she said her daughter died and she was distraught and depressed and sounded suicidal. She did not contact me again after 2 June and the money she promised to return to my bank has not materialised. So I assume I have been taken for a scam.
