I received an email out of the blue from this lady named Nina. I have no idea where this person got my email address, but I played along to see what game this was. Originally I couldn't see the photos as it was translated into an odd format on my side, but I finally got to see them by renaming them. This person never really answered my questions and that bothered me. Anyway this person decided that they wanted to visit. I didn't see much problem with that, as it allowed me to be in control and I was interested to see who was behind this. I know it sounds horrible, but I figured that if this person turned out not to be who they say they are (i.e., is a man showing up instead of a woman) then I would just let them stay at the airport. I did say that I wanted to talk to her on the phone before she did this, but it seemed that she just ignored the point.
Anyway, after she told me that she might need some financial help coming over, a red flag went up. I thought to check online for Russian scams, and lo and behold I found this website and the in the messageboard there where a few letters that we almost identical to the ones that this person sent me, then I got the letter in the inbox that confirmed it, asking for $350 to the travel agency. I hope that this person gets caught or at least this info makes it more difficult to scam someone else. Thankfully, I saw this before I sent any money.
