Usual M.O. Only reason I thought differently is that she emailed regularly and personally for over a month before the $ questions began.

We corresponded for a little more than a month and things went well. As they became a little more serious, I checked on the website and saw that someone else had reported her a s a scammer, so I went along with our letters, expecting the hit soon enough. As we talked about finally meeting in person, I told her that my preference was to meet her in Moscow, since it would be safer and more convenient for her, and I was very busy right now and I was travelling quite a bit. This made no difference to her and she just pushed ahead with her agenda and telling me it was too soon to meet her parents. Well, she lives about 850 kilometers from Moscow so I do not think that that would be a problem and the why would it be better to travel thousands of kilometers to meet a strange man, rather than meeting on home turf?
Finally the scam letter came, along with a travel agent contract, in Russian which I can read, but can have translated by friends, and a copy of her passport, which quite frankly do not care about. All I could read read in this contract is 1,510 Euros and I am sure this will be even more, very soon. This does not take into account insurance or tickets. Good smooth scammer, but then hits hard.
