Scam REPORT(S)

REPORT N1 (added on May, 26, 2005)
Sandro (Italy)

This girl uses a clever variation of the classic "I'll come visiting if you send me the necessary money for the trip". Here is ths story:
She saw my profile on World-Online-Dating and contacted me (a 62 y.o.) saying she liked me and wanted to know me better (6 May). I replied agreeably and asked for photos, since her profile shows none. She sent me her first photo (8 May), told me she is a teacher of English (1st mistake:
she writes in very poor English) and the daughter of a bus driver and a teacher. Her photo was suspiciously model-like. I replied (9 May) pointing out some of her grossest written mistakes, she replied (11 May) without any acknowledgment of my corrections (2nd mistake : she probably uses a set stock of ready-made letters) and started hinting at the possibility of a real meeting, attaching another juicy photo. I played along and asked what she could suggest in this connection. She answered 13 May) that she had a period of vacation coming along (May 20 to June 5), a valid EEC visa and therefore could either come visiting me or meet me in Moscow, asking whuich alternative I liked better. I indicated (14 May) my preference for her first alternative and that I could give her full hospitality.
At this point I was expecting the sting of a request for flight-ticket money, but she cleverly told me (16 May) she would pay herself and asked about Milan's airports and whether I could pick her up on arrival, adding she was going to a travel agency the following day to get her ticket. Now finally came the sting : the following day (17 May) she reported she had had a bad surprise at the agency: the ticket costed $555, she had paid in advance only $375 (3rd mistake: a Russian girl forking out more money than she presumably earns monthly as a teacher), and asked if I could cover the $180 difference based on the instructions I would soon receive from her travel agent. She also attached a photo of her passport with the EEC visa (apparently, the photos she sent previously were really hers). After a few hours I received an email from her supposed agent Sergey Zavoloko from the unlikely-sounding travel agency "Around of the World" with details of a supposed invoice for an Aeroflot business-class Moscow-Milan return ticket and instructions for a bank or Western Union transfer of the remaining $180, both payable to himself and not to a corporate account/address (4th mistake).
I checked out Aeroflot enonomy-class fares for the flight (about $413), then replied to Marina that I am against sending money to people I know only via email, cheekily suggesting that she drop her dubious agency, get a $413 economy-class ticket and that I was quite willing to reimburse her of any extra expense WHEN SHE WOULD REACH ME. Unsurprisingly, I received no further communications thereafter.
Marina is clever, only asking for a supposed difference, and paying $180 to be visited by a pretty girl like her is a serious temptation for the unwary. However, she fails dramatically on the credibility side.
